These terms describe the agreement between you and Grothendieck House when you visit the site, read its pages, write to its addresses, or order one of its titles. We have kept them short on purpose.
The site and its contentsThe text, layout, typography, and editorial selection on grothendieckhouse.com are the work of the house. They are offered freely for reading. They may not be reproduced in bulk, sold, or used to train commercial models without written permission. Quotations for review, scholarship, or commentary are welcome under the ordinary practice of fair use.
Book jackets, motion notes, and author photography are licensed for promotional use by booksellers, librarians, and press; please write to press@grothendieckhouse.com for high-resolution files and approved language.
Orders, payment, and deliveryDirect orders are filled in the sequence they are received. Prices and availability are listed on each book page. We charge at the moment of confirmation, ship within the timeframe stated at checkout, and provide tracking when carriers offer it. International orders are shipped DDU; recipients are responsible for any duties their jurisdictions impose.
Returns and replacementsBooks damaged in transit are replaced at no cost. Direct-order returns are accepted within 30 days in unused condition; the buyer covers return postage. Special editions, signed copies, and standing-order shipments are non-returnable.
SubmissionsSubmitting a manuscript or proposal does not create an obligation on either side. We acquire by invitation and by query and respond to every letter within sixty days. Submitting does not grant the house any rights in the work; rights pass only by a signed agreement.
Author and contributor agreementsWhere an agreement exists between an author or contributor and the house, that agreement governs. Nothing on this page modifies a signed publishing contract.
DisclaimerThe site is published in good faith. We make no warranty that pages are free of error, that the catalog is complete, or that any title will be available on a particular date; publishing dates can move. Where we discover an error we will correct it.
Governing lawThese terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Disputes that cannot be resolved through correspondence will be heard by the courts of that jurisdiction.
Changes to these termsWe may revise these terms when we change a practice they describe. The revised date below indicates when the latest version took effect. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of it.
